About Tip Calculator & Bill Splitter
A simple tip calculator and check splitter for restaurants, bars, deliveries, and group dinners. Type the bill, pick a tip, and choose how many people are paying to see the tip, the total, and each person's share right away. When people ordered different things, switch to By person: everyone enters what they had, shared items are split evenly, and tax and tip are shared out fairly. Everything stays on your device, and nothing is sent anywhere.
FAQ
- How much should I tip?
- In the US, 15 to 20% is usual for table service, and 20% is a common default today. Customs vary a lot by country, so use Custom for any amount, including 0%.
- Should the tip be on the amount before or after tax?
- Traditionally the tip is worked out on the amount before tax. In Even split, open "More options" and enter the tax from the receipt to do that. If you'd rather tip on the full amount, tick "Include tax when working out the tip".
- How do I split the bill when people ordered different things?
- Tap By person and enter what each person ordered. Add anything everyone shared under Shared items, and the tax from the receipt. Each person's share of the tax and tip matches how much they ordered.
- Why do some people pay one cent more?
- A bill can't always be split into exactly equal cents. The shares always add up to the total, so any leftover cents go to the first people, and the app tells you when that happens.
- Can I put it on my home screen?
- Yes. On iPhone, open this page in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen (or Install app). It then opens like a regular app and works offline.
